Senior quotes post!
Yeah, there's a lot. XD

I separated them into categories (semi-inspirational, complete nonsense, etc.)
Everything in parenthesis will NOT be part of the quote in the end, it's just my own thoughts/explanations.
I did check boxes, so you can pick more than one, but don't be a d-bag and mark every single one, please. ;D

AWWWW HERE IT GOES.

I miss Kenan & Kel :( )

In general right now, I'm leaning more towards either a 30 Rock one or a Sympathy for the Devil one, but there are a few gems in other categories that I like a lot, so idk yet.

My theatre lovin' flisters, if you ever read an entry of mine, THIS is the one I want you to read.

So. I'm going to be directing a play at my school in late January of 2010 for my senior project at my school (well, and partly just because I want to try my hand at directing). I technically don't have to choose which play I'm going to do until October or so, but I really actually need to choose what it is (or at least have it down to like, a few choices) by August 10th, when we go back to school, because there are a lot of seniors who want to do plays this year, and I don't want to have to share my slot with someone else, and the sooner I have a choice of what I'm going to do, the better my chances are of getting the slot to myself.

Alas, we have arrived at my dilemma.
I don't know what I want play I want to direct yet.
And that's where you come in.

I've been on a play-reading spree this summer, but I haven't found anything that I really like and feel really passionate about that is also appropriate to do at a high school.

So I come looking for suggestions. Any and all suggestions are welcome. The only thing I ask is that they be high-school appropriate.
Well, what defines "high-school appropriate", you ask?
Easy. We're not a super-conservative Christian school or anything. From what I've heard from friends, our drama teacher is actually a lot more allowing of things than a lot of teachers.
Most drug stuff should be ok, we can work around a lot of cursing, the only thing is that there can't be tons and tons of sexual references, that's where he starts to say "*grumblegrumble* YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" Some sex references are fine, of course, it just can't be SEXSEXSEX every five seconds, or have any really graphic sexual references.

A couple preferences:
-Nothing that requires lots of big special effects that can't be otherwise faked.
-Gender dispersion between roles being generally balanced, or girls majority. We lack guys greatly, so I would prefer to not do a show with six male characters and two female characters.

However, don't let that stop you from suggesting a play that you think is really good just because it doesn't fit into my preferences. It can be as abstract or simple as anything - as long as it's good, I'm open to everything.

When in doubt, go ahead and put it down anyway!
Thank you all for your time and suggestions! :)

ETA: Also, if you know of a place online where I can access your suggestions for free, that'd be VERY helpful!

So, I can't decide whether to change my userpic back to Hunter and Tony or change it to my new Susan and her finger-gun about to shoot one of the two Jeffs.

(even if you don't know who the hell these people are, which you probably won't, just vote anyway, for the hell of it. Indulge me.)

In other random news, I was at Target today and I bought Kath & Kim. Dude, I fucking loved that show. It was kind of meh at first, but it got so much better. I was so hoping it would pull a 30 Rock and get another season even though they had sucky ratings.

And other random news, I found out that Carrie Fisher is going to be doing her one-woman show "Wishful Drinking" in Berkeley for a few weeks, and I'm totally going to do everything I can to go. I loved her book (of the same title; the whole thing actually started out as a one-woman show, and then she made it into a book, and now she's doing the show again) to fucking pieces, she's ridiculously hysterical. And there's also Kathy Griffin in SF in September (which I still need to get tickets for, and I probably should soon in case they sell out). Yay funny people!

ETA: Does anyone know if/why not sparkly text works on profiles? Because it's just not working for me.

I'M GOING TO SEE BERNADETTE PETERS!

The two main songs I'm really hoping she'll do are "Being Alive" and "Move On", both of which she probably WILL do because they're both staples of hers, "Being Alive" especially so. I'd be really happy if she does "Time Heals Everything" also, but the first two are the ones I really really really hope she sings.

(and right as I finished copying and pasting and typing all of that and being all excited as hell, "So Anyway" from Next to Normal just HAD to come up on my itunes. It's like, SUPERDUPER EXCITED to DEPRESS THE FUCKING SHIT OUT OF ME, haha.)

i realize now i do not fear death... i fear my daughter will not be free when i die

- From the Twitter of an Iranian medical student

"If it bothers you so much, then why don't you stop watching?" seems to be the question of the last few days from my friends and family who know how invested I have become in the cause of the Iranian people (as I have explained in great detail here) The answer is simple: one day of caring is not enough. We must be the voice for the people of Iran who would otherwise be silenced. They are without reliable news sources, they are without mobile phone calls, text messaging, facebook, twitter, youtube, AIM, Yahoo, Google, and pretty much every other useful outlet for information you can think of. Yet they persist on the streets and on the internet in any way they can. The least we can do, whether we are across continents, oceans, or time zones, is spread their words safely.

My death is irrelevant.Wht is important is that u do not forget my words. We want freedom.i will die 4that

- From the Twitter of a protester in Tehran

Right now, brave men and women in Iran, both young and old, are sacrificing their lives for their voices to be heard. They must fear not only the police, but also the Basij -a force of men loyal to the government who plant themselves among crowds in plain clothes in order to discretely attack protesters and incite chaos. The protesters are peaceful. They mass together in crowds that are reported to grow in size every day. At night they have very few, if any, safe places to stay. Houses with satelite dishes were attacked by the Basij tonight, and during the 50 minutes of Twitter's maintenance, another university was attacked.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?

  1. The most obvious thing to do is stay informed. Keep an eye on reliable sources on Twitter, refresh blogs and news sites that are covering the stories.

  2. If you are on twitter, retweet information from reliable twitters, but REMOVE THE USERNAME if they are in Iran. People have died because of the lack of responsibility by fellow tweeters and the media in this front. They can be tracked down by the government of Iran.

  3. Spread the information elsewhere. Repost this article or write your own on Facebook, Myspace, Tumblr, or anywhere else you can think of. If you write your own, make sure you are concise and accurate. Link to your sources for people to learn more.

  4. Change your location on Twitter to Tehran or Iran, and your time zone to GMT +3:30.

  5. DO NOT auto-refresh and take down websites, even if you are asked. It slows down the internet for the rest of the people in Iran.

  6. If you make a proxy DO NOT post it publically, otherwise it is useless. Send it in a direct message to a trusted source.

  7. DO NOT spam the hash tag #IranElection with useless things to "confuse the government". This does not help at all.

If you are reading this right now, you have more luxury than someone in Iran could ever hope for right now. If you are watching TV or a video on youtube, updating your status on Facebook, Tweeting, or even texting your friend, you are lucky. If you are safe in your home, and were able to sleep last night without the sounds of screaming from the rooftops, you need to know and understand what is happening to people just like you in Iran right now.

They are not the enemy. They are a people whose election has been stolen. For the first time in a long time, a voice for change struck the youth of Iran, just as it did for many people in the United States only seven months ago. Hossein Mousavi gained the support of millions of people in Iran as a Presidential candidate. He stands for progressiveness. He supports good relations with the West, and the rest of the world. He is supported with fervor as he challenges the oppressive regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

On Friday, millions of people waited for hours in line to vote in Iran's Presidential election. Later that night, as votes came in, Mousavi was alerted that he was winning by a two-thirds margin. Then there was a change. Suddenly, it was Ahmadinejad who had 68% of the vote - in areas which have been firmly against his political party, he overwhelmingly won. Within three hours, millions of votes were supposedly counted - the victor was Ahmadinejad. Immediately fraud was suspected - there was no way he could have won by this great a margin with such oppposition. Since then, reports have been coming in of burned ballots, or in some cases numbers being given without any being counted at all. None of this is confirmed, but what happened next seems to do the trick.

The people of Iran took the streets and rooftops. They shout "Death to the dictator" and "Allah o akbar." They join together to protest. Peacefully. The police attack some, but they stay strong. Riots happen, and the shouting continues all night. Text messaging was disabled, as was satellite, and websites which can spread information such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and the BBC are blocked in the country. At five in the morning, Arabic speaking soldiers (the people of Iran speak Farsi) stormed a university in the capital city of Tehran. While sleeping in their dormitories, five students were killed. Others were wounded. These soldiers are thought to have been brought in by Ahmadinejad from Lebanon. Today, 192 of the university's faculty have resigned in protest.

Mousavi requested that the government allow a peaceful rally to occur this morning - the request was denied. Many thought that it would not happen. Nevertheless, first a few thousand people showed up in the streets of Tehran. At this point, it is estimated that 1 to 2 million people were there. Mousavi spoke on the top of a car. The police stood by. For a few hours, everything was peaceful. Right now, the same cannot be said. Reports of injuries, shootings, and killings are flooding the internet. Twitter has been an invaluable source - those in Iran who still know how to access it are updating regularly with picture evidence. People are being brutally beaten. Tonight will be another night without rest for so many in Iran no older than I am. Tonight there is a Green Revolution.

Attention all Java Junkies:

Today is June 3rd.

<3<3<3

This June 3rd thing's been going on for three or four years now, I think (in case you've seen Gilmore Girls but have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about, in the show Lorelai and Luke had set their wedding date to be June 3rd, and ever since then it's been a kind of commemorative day for them amongst the shippers).

L&L are still my OTP, and they always will be.
And so, I bring you:

THE STORY OF LUKE AND LORELAI (in a nutshell)!

Although I have many liberal tendencies and would have voted for Obama in the last election if I could have voted (Hillary in the primaries, though), I don't label myself as a liberal, democrat, or anything else. I think labels are stupid, especially political ones. Just because I agree with a politician certain times doesn't mean I always agree with them, just because I don't agree with a certain politician most of the time doesn't mean I'll always disagree with them (although that really is pretty much the case with Palin. There's an exception to every rule, so they say), and just because I agree with many of the policies of "democrats", it doesn't mean I always will agree with them and never agree with "republicans". I am an individual person, not a cog in anyone's machine.

This being said, I WILL be moving to Canada should Palin ever become vice-president or president, just so you know.

In my head, I just assume that every show I watch (that doesn't already take place in a specific other planet or universe) takes place on a planet called Htrae (The word "Earth" backwards), where basically everything is exactly the same as it is on Earth, except for a few things here and there that make whatever plot holes there are possible in this "alternate" universe.

I know it's a bit weird, but it keeps me from bitching too much whenever something just WOULD NOT happen that way in real life.
